[O]f the four largest daily newspapers in North Dakota, the number of conservative editorial pages: 0
(Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, Bismarck Tribune, Grand Forks Herald, Minot Daily News)
None appears to have a consistent philosophy. The Forum, the state’s largest newspaper, endorses Republicans come election time, but that’s a function of its publisher. It’s a shame; as a family-owned newspaper, it could establish a bold presence with provocative thinking.
There are conservative weeklies, some of them of high quality, but I think you can mark North Dakota off as terra incognita for conservative editorial page purposes.
I'll second that.
North Dakota doesn't have many good newspapers. Once you get past the Forum and the Herald the quality drops off pretty fast. The Tribune isn't so bad, but the Minot Daily News is a joke. It's basically just a re-print of wire stories and stories run by the state's larger papers. The the Forum's shilling for the state's Democrats is nothing short of atrocious. Their recent role as apologists and mouthpiece for our embattled Senator Byron Dorgan has been particularly grating.
