The liberals at the New York Times are oh-so-concerned about the “First Dude” (as Sarah refers to her husband Todd) exerting too much influence over Sarah’s policies:
It is not necessarily clear whether Mr. Palin is helping shape his wife’s agenda or simply advocating for it, nor whether he ever put pressure on lawmakers, but his role has not been the customary one of a governor’s spouse in Alaska.
That has made many people in government uncomfortable and often confused over how to react.
I wonder if the media, while extolling what “strong” and “independent” women liberals like Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton are, has ever wondered if they exert too much influence over their husband’s policies?
Hell, I wonder if anyone ever asked that about Eleanor Roosevelt.
During the Clinton years wasn’t the media fawning about how “invovled” Hillary Clinton was in her husband’s administration? Didn’t Hillary herself cite her time in the White House as First Lady as executive experience? Was anyone worried about Bill Clinton exerting too much influence over Hillary’s policies as Senator or as a candidate for President?
Funny how these double standards work.
