So there's some new Abu Ghraib photos out. You can view them here.

It is still shocking to see the imags. What went on at Abu Ghraib was terribly, terribly wrong. But seeing these photos does remind me of one positive thing: The people responsible for those abuses have been punished. Because unlike some countries (like Saddam's Iraq) we don't sanction, or do we tolerate, this sort of treatment.

On a related note, it is interesting to note that CNN - who refused to run the Mohammed cartoons that have been causing such a stir in the world of late out of "respect for Islam" - has a gallery posted of the Abu Ghraib photos.

Here is CNN's excuse for not running the Mohammed cartoons:

CNN is not showing the negative caricatures of the likeness of Prophet Mohammed because the network believes its role is to cover the events surrounding the publication of the cartoons while not unnecessarily adding fuel to the controversy itself.

Right. But apparently adding fuel to the Abu Ghraib controversy, long since the issue has been settled and moved out of the public's eye, is just fine and dandy.

Double standards, anyone?
