NBC Goes Green During Sunday Night Football

Did anyone else catch this during half-time of the Eagles/Cowboys game tonight?

Basically, NBC decided to show us what responsible, earth-friendly (and, ahem, liberal) organization they are by...shutting off the lights in their studios during the half time show so that their anchors (including Keith Olbermann) had to sit in the dark.  This, apparently, saves a bunch of electricity.

But you know what they’ve also done?  They’ve flown reporters all over the world (including the north and south poles) to report on climate change.  So they’re saving electricity by shutting off the lights during one half-time show of one football game, but then probably using more energy than they saved by flying people like Matt Lauer to remote destinations so they can read lines off a teleprompter there instead of in a studio in New York.  And that probably doesn’t even count all the extra batteries and what not NBC used up while its studio crews had to work in the dark.

The most galling part?  When Lauer, while hawking the Today Show’s coverage of climate change, talks of interviewing “experts” for the story like...Al Gore.  Because we know Dr. Al has a Phd. in climatology.

What a joke.  Just for that, I’m leaving every light in my house on tonight.
