Leftists play up the "rich white guy" stereotype when talking about Republicans. They call Republicans the "party of the rich" and accuse them of pandering affluent citizens with their "tax cuts for the rich." So I was interested when I came across these statistics (via Boots and Sabers).

CBS - 58% of the Republican delegates have incomes of $75,000 or above annually, compared to 33% of Republican voters nationally. 61% of Democratic delegates had income of $75,000 or higher.

I'm not offering this as evidence of the DNC being the real party of the rich. I only point it out as a way of dismissing some of the sterotyping and rhetoric that flies around these days.

Bottom line, both political parties are just people. They're made up of Americans from all walks of life. There's no one size of brush or color of paint you can use for either party, so we should all stop trying. If we did it would probably go a long way toward ending some of the political strife that is present in our nation's politics today.
