First off, I started writing this piece yesterday morning. Just as I was about to finish it, complete with links to all the news websites I’ll mention below, my computer, which has long been on it’s last spindly e-legs, died. Just up and died. And the piece died with it.
So.....after a few choice and very expressive words that are not fit for mixed company, I talked my wife into getting me a new computer. And here I am. And, no, I’m not linking all those news sites again.
Anyway, if Obama drew 60,000 people to a speech or rally or whatever, the media would be in a collective swoon with tingles running up and down BOTH legs. So, out of curiosity I surfed around a bit to see how they were treating the fact that Sarah Palin had drawn such a huge crowd in Florida.
Guess what?
I really couldn’t find much on it. Hey, I know. I was shocked, too.
The Miami Herald and Fox News had articles about it. And I believe Yahoo!News ran an Associated Press piece that said that Palin had “played it safe” by choosing a town in Florida that was full of doddering codgers who would, of course, vote Republican. I think it was the same article that also said that though the crowd was estimated at 60,000 by a local fire chief it was probably a mere 20,000 or so.
Oh. Just 20,000. Just 10 times more than the largest crowd Biden has drawn so far. Way to minimize, AP.
Let’s see...checked ABC, CBS, and NBC. Nope. Nothing there.
I took a look at the New York Times. After all, their motto is “All The News That’s Fit To Print” and a political candidate drawing that kind of crowd would certainly be news, wouldn’t it? Couldn’t find it there, either. To be fair, they may have had something on it on page 812 between the used car and viagra ads, but I didn’t dig that deep.
Boston Herald? Zip.
CNN? They must have missed this one.
San Francisco Chronicle? Heh. Just kidding.
And the beat goes on, the main stream media continues its march to the left. I checked a few others but after my computer up and died I didn’t go back to see if they’d suddenly remembered that drawing an estimated 60,000 people to a speech is in fact news.
Again, to be fair I may have missed it in some of those places, but it certainly wasn’t on the front page of any of them, or if it had been they dumped it quickly.
If Obama draws twelve winos in an alley we’ll hear all about how he’s going after the sobriety challenged vote. If Palin, who the left and their media slugs are terrified of, draws 60,000 they ignore or minimize the story.
But, hey....don’t question their objectivity.
