From The Mercury News:
As he led Friday's prayer service in Mission Viejo, Hussam Ayloush said the war on terror had become a "war on Muslims" and that the United States had become the "new Saddam."
"So let's end this hypocrisy, this hypocrisy that we are better than the other dictator," Ayloush, the executive director of the Southern California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, told several hundred worshipers.
So George W. Bush is a dictator not unlike Saddam Hussein. I could think of a lot of reasons why that isn't true, but just one should suffice. I'd like to invite Mr. Ayloush to jump into a time machine and try that type of dissent in Iraq during Hussein's regime.
And he wants to end the hypocrisy? What is that supposed to mean? Should Bush start executing people with a plastic shredder and ordering his political opponents raped and murdered?
The abuse of Iraqi prisoners was bad, but it was an isolated incident. Those involved in both the activities and the cover-up should and will be punished.
