Google’s Privacy Defense: Feel Free To Switch To Another Service Any Time

In yesterday’s Senate hearings concerning privacy Google responded to questions about its privacy policy with this:

If our users are uncomfortable with how we manage their personal information, they are only one click away from switching to a competitor’s services.

The problem with this defense is that one of Google’s more controversial initiatives of late has been ground-level photography for the company’s Google Maps product which routinely catch pedestrians and motorists.

Its sort of hard to opt-out of getting your picture taken by one of Google’s roaming photo vehicles.
