Getting Stronger…

The Yankees had a good weekend.

They continued rolling taking two of three from the Devil Rays this weekend winning both games of a doubleheader on Saturday but loosing on Sunday.

Sunday was apparently dress-up day, with rookies on both the Devil Rays and Yankees dressing up in ridiculous outfits. Jose Contreras was seen pimpin' in a white fur coat and purple pants while Matsui wore a leopard-print number. At least they didn't have to wear dresses like the D-Ray's rookies.

Contreras pitched a strong game despite the loss, his best game of the season according to him. Heredia came in and pitched well, but was let down by an error by Enrique Wilson playing for a resting Aaron Boone.

Jeff Weaver was disappointing again in his start, but I don't think he will be starting in the playoffs so it doesn't really matter. Bernie is really starting to roll now and the rest of the lineup looks like they're going to be primed for the playoffs. Even Boone looks like he's waking up.

The Yankees now lead the Red Sox by 5.5 games in the AL East.

Devil Rays 5, Yankees 2

Yankees 5, Tigers 2

Yankees 4, Tigers 2
