Its being reported by Iranian news sources that Akbar Ganji, the journalist engaging in a hunger strike after being jailed by the Iranian government for criticizing the recent elections in that country, may nearing the end of the line.

Of course, you probably weren't aware of this situation due to the less-than-extensive coverage provided by our media. Were this, say, an extreme Islamic cleric protesting the American occupation of Iraq it'd probably be on the front page of every newspaper every day. But when its somebody protesting the actions of the extremists themselves its given short shrift. Why? Probably for a reason that's somewhere between the fulfilling of the media's political agenda and an overwhelming desire for big ratings.

We should be paying close attention to these events in Iran. That country is a major sponsor of global terrorism, but if they don't handle this situation with Ganji correctly it may well result in the current regime there losing control of the entire country. Which, of course, would be a major victory in the war on terror.
