From one guy who destroyed his country to another guy who is about to do the same thing:

HAVANA (AP) - Fidel Castro said Friday he has warned Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to watch out for U.S.-backed assassination attempts, telling his close friend and socialist ally to avoid open-top vehicles that could be targeted by snipers.

The 81-year-old Castro said Venezuela is facing “a world tyranny” as voters decide Sunday on constitutional changes that would give Chavez unchecked power to further transform the South American country into a socialist state.

I suspect that he also warned Chavez to remember to wear his tinfoil hat to protect him from American mind-reading rays and to always, always listen to the voices in his head.

Here’s an interesting tidbit:

Chavez’s government sends nearly 100,000 daily barrels of oil per day to Cuba in exchange for social service assistance. Castro said Friday that trade between both countries has now reached $7 billion annually.

What that really means is that Cuba sends poorly paid medical personnel to Venezuela (who are constantly trying to find a way to bug out of there to the the point of having to be watched) in exchange for billions in welfare subsidies. Castro doesn’t want anything to happen to his new spank daddy. If Chavez should happen to get in the way of a high speed projectile then the next Venezuelan government might no take so kindly to giving away billions to an economic basket case like Cuba.

And it’s never too early to lay the groundwork to blame the U.S. in case one of Chavez’s ever growing number of enemies should decide to make this happen, is it?
