Do Democrats Need A Plan For Iraq?

That’s what Brent Kremer is asking:

The major topic in Politics right now is: Where is the Democratic plan for Iraq? My question in response to that is: Why does it matter? Congress is responsible for giving the President permission to go to war and the funding of the war. That is it. The President is responsible for the strategic planning for the war. He is THE Commander-In-Chief. He is the civilian head for all the Armed Forces of America. So, the Democrats Plan for Iraq is worth what my plan for Iraq is. Not a hill of beans.

That’s actually a pretty good point.  Too bad the Democrats don’t understand that, because they do have a plan for Iraq.  It’s called “retreat,” and the only reason they never talk about it is because they don’t want to look like the bunch of partisan defeatists they really are.

And the Democrat position on Iraq does amount to more than a “hill of beans.” They control Congress right now, and while they may not be able to order the military around (though they’re clearly trying to pressure the military into a specific course of action) they can certainly cut off the military’s resources.  And I think that’s exactly what they’re going to do.  If the President doesn’t bow to their demands for a withdrawal from Iraq I think this Democrat-controlled Congress is going to cut off funding for our troops in Iraq and force a withdrawal that way.

You wait and see.  It’ll happen.
