Lionel Chetwynd is a Hollywood writer, director and producer responsible for many films, especially historical documentaries. Nick Grillo is the producer responsible for Gods and Generals. Both men were at the summit to discuss the reasons why right-leaning Americans shouldn’t write off Hollywood. And they made a compelling case, with Lionel pointing out that it isn’t fair to paint the entire town with the “liberal” brush.”
That’s true, I guess, but when week after week we’re confronted with major motion pictures in our theaters that denigrate our country, our culture, our government and our military it’s hard to take his argument seriously. And with all due respect to Chetwynd, while his movies are very respectful of those things I just mentioned, they’re TV movies. Not that there’s anything wrong with TV movies, but he’s not exactly reaching the same number of people Sean Penn and Oliver Stone are.
Nick Grillo’s part of the presentation was interesting in that he and a group of others are apparently starting a production company called (I think as I couldn’t quite make out what they were saying) American Saggat Productions which will make movies casting a positive light on our country, society, government, military, etc.
A much needed thing. One can only hope they succeed.
