Crowd Boos McCain After He Says Obama Isn’t A Muslim?

That’s what this Politico story suggests, but the video tells a different story (ignore the ignorant MSNBC reporter who suggests that McCain’s tying Obama to Ayers - a white male - is what prompted this woman to suggest that Obama is an Arab):

After the Arab comment, and McCain’s response to it, I don’t hear a single boo.

Not one.  And good on them for applauding McCain.  This whole “Obama is a Muslim” thing is just plain silly.  Look at the actual church Obama attended.  The one headed by Rev. Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright.  Is that not loony enough without having to make up nonsensical stories about his being a closet Islamist?

I do hear the crowd boo, however, after McCain suggests that Obama isn’t someone to be afraid of.  But that booing is justified, I think.  People are tired of there being little distinction between McCain and Obama.  They’re tired of McCain letting Obama off the hook time and time again.  The people want McCain to draw sharp distinctions between himself and Obama.  They want him to stand up and stand out, and they’re frustrated that he won’t.

A President Obama is a scary thing.  We’ve faced something like it before during the Jimmy Carter years, and there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging the fear of going back to that era.  If McCain were a good candidate, a conservative candidate, he’d have no problem talking about that.  But he’s not, so he does.
