Communist Repression is the Solution to Global Warming

Drudge had two interesting China articles together today.  The first deals with their recent claim that they are fighting global warming.

China says its one-child policy has helped the fight against global warming by avoiding 300 million births, the equivalent of the population of the United States.

‘Population is clearly an important factor,” said Yvo de Boer, head of the U.N. Climate Change Secretariat, at U.N. talks trying to plan a new deal to combat climate change after 2012.

China, which rejects criticism that it is doing too little to confront climate change, says that its population is now 1.6 billion against 1.3 billion if it had not imposed tough birth control measures in the late 1970s.

And how are they enforcing their birth control:

Yang Zhongchen, a small-town businessman, wined and dined three government officials for permission to become a father.

But the Peking duck and liquor weren’t enough. One night, a couple of weeks before her date for giving birth, Yang’s wife was dragged from her bed in a north China town and taken to a clinic, where, she says, her baby was killed by injection while still inside her.

“Several people held me down, they ripped my clothes aside and the doctor pushed a large syringe into my stomach,” says Jin Yani, a shy, petite woman with a long ponytail. “It was very painful. ... It was all very rough."…

Seven years after the dead baby was pulled from her body with forceps, Jin remains traumatized and, the couple and a doctor say, unable to bear children. Yang and Jin have made the rounds of government offices pleading for restitution — to no avail.

I can’t imagine anything more barbaric than that.  But China’s policy of requiring a husband and a wife to get permission from the state to have merely one child to be awful.

And now the collectivists have decided to use the global warming scam to justify their barbaric actions.  Algore must be proud of them.
