Why is this news?

Hagel has been making these Iraq/Vietnam comparisons for months now and has been against the war in Iraq since the beginning. Yet today I've seen this "Republican Compares Iraq To Vietnam" headline (and variations on it) all over the place today. Its been getting a lot of attention.

Memo to the press and liberals: Hagel is not, and never has been, representative of the typical Republican views on Bush's foreign policy decisions.

I've got a name for anybody who thinks Hagel's opposition to the war in Iraq means anything in terms of Republican support for that war: Zell Miller.
