A liberal Hugo Chavez apologist is wringing his hands over the pseudo-dictator's decision to open a Kalashnikov weapons factory (Kalashnikov is the manufacturer of the famed AK-47) in Venezuela. He is, of course, worried about these guns getting into the hands of Venezuela's violent citizens.
Well he needen't worry so much. With Chavez pushing policies like a crackdown on free speech for television/radio stations and declaring himself President-for-life he isn't about to let the citizenry arm themselves.
Nope, he'll keep all these guns for the government.
Here in America, our founding fathers recognized that the last defense against tyranny is a well-armed populace. That's why the right to own weapons is enshrined in our Constitution, and it is also why tyrants like Chavez aren't interested in trusting citizens with weapons.
