Can’t He Just Tell The Truth?

Here's the latest example.

From The Associated Press:

During a conference call Thursday with reporters to discuss his upcoming jobs tour through West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan, the Democratic presidential candidate was asked whether he owned a Chevrolet Suburban.

"I don't own an SUV," said Kerry, who supports increasing existing fuel economy standards to 36 miles per gallon by 2015 in order to reduce the nation's dependence on foreign oil supplies...

Kerry thought for a second when asked whether his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, had a Suburban at their Ketchum, Idaho, home. Kerry said he owns and drives a Dodge 600 and recently bought a Chrysler 300M. He said his wife owns the Chevrolet SUV.

"The family has it. I don't have it," he said.

A couple of things I find disturbing from the article:

  1. Kerry lied about something as small as owning an SUV. Its obvious he only tells people what he thinks they want to hear rather than the truth.

  2. Kerry doesn't consider himself part of his own family.

Ever wonder why John Kerry says so many stupid things? Its because he has so many things to consider before he can speak. He has to consider what kind of an audience he is speaking to and what their biases are. He then has to formulate an answer that will best ingratiate himself to the audience. Finally, he has to make sure he leaves himself some wiggle room should the fact that he expressed different sentiments in the past surface.

When a person speaks honestly about what they truly believe they don't mess up nearly as often because they don't have to think as hard. John Kerry obviously doesn't speak about what he really believes in very often.
