Here's an interesting round up of Bush's approval poll numbers from Real Clear Politics.

CNN currently has the President at 37% approval. That poll previously had him at 34%.

Fox News has the President at 40% approval. Previously they had him at 35%.

An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll has the President at 37%. Previously they had him at 36%.

a USA Today/Gallup poll has the President at 38%. Previously they had him at 36%.

And an Associated Press/Ipsos poll had the President at 35%, up from 33% previously.

Two recent polls did have the President falling in his approval numbers. The most recent Rasmussen poll has the President down to 40% approval from 41% previously while CBS News has the President at 33%, down from 35% previously.

So what can we conclude from all this? Well, I don't put a whole lot of stock in any single poll, but when a whole group of polls shows an upward trend in the President's approval numbers one has to conclude that public opinion is turning - at least moderately - in his favor right now.

Of course, don't expect to hear about this upward trend in approval numbers in the media. They'll report on the President dropping a point or two in an approval poll, but when he goes up a point or two it isn't considered newsworthy. Instead, expect to be lambasted with ever negative story about Iraq and the Bush administration the media can scrape together.
