Witnesses said the man, wearing a blue ballcap, ran into the Capitol near the Rotunda and was pursued by police. A construction supervisor said the man was apprehended in a construction area on the third floor of the building.
He made it all the way up to the third floor of the Capitol before he was stopped? What if this had put explosives on his body? He could have done some considerable damage to one of the buildings at the very heart of our government, not to mention killed a lot of people too.
Seems like a surprising failure of security in this age of terrorism to me.
I also sometimes wonder about these nuts who sometimes launch crazy, if not especially damaging, attacks on government buildings in D.C. I sometimes wonder if they aren't part of a larger plot and are simply testing out security response and procedures in preparation for another attack. Just speculation on my part, of course, but it does make me wonder.
