President Bush vowed on Friday to repair America's beleaguered human rights record, while his defense secretary refused to resign over the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal during a tense Capitol Hill hearing.
Repair America's human rights record? Since when does our human rights record need repairing? One unfortunate incident and suddenly we have a poor human rights record? Give me a break.
Plus, if you read the whole article, you'll note that President Bush doesn't even once say anything even resembling a vow to repair America's human rights record. Here's a link to a transcript of the President's remarks. Read them for yourself. You'll note that the President is proud of our troops in Iraq and says that they're caring, compassionate and hard-working people.
Aside from the revealing of a few bad apples recently, I'd say that I have to agree with the President. Don't you?
