Here in Minot, North Dakota we’ve had strip clubs in town for years. We used to have several, but over the last several years most of them closed up. Now we’ve got one that’s been downtown for years, the Chicago Club which was formerly known as Legends Night Club, and another one that’s just opened called Sin.
Neither has really caused any troubles. Certainly no more mischief than at any of Minot’s bars, but that isn’t stopping a bunch of moralizing do-gooders from trying to regulate the town’s two strip clubs out of business.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) Minot residents who want a tougher city ordinance regulating strip clubs have formed a group.
The Cleaner Minot Committee hopes to encourage residents to speak out at upcoming city meetings.
The group is seeking an ordinance that would require Minot’s two downtown strip clubs to move out of their commercial locations and into an industrial zone.
The city currently regulates strip clubs as cabarets. The ordinance does not allow for total nudity. The Cleaner Minot Committee would like to see strip clubs more heavily regulated as adult entertainment.
Something tells me that the busybodies on this Cleaner Minot Committee are going to have a tough time given that the owner of the Chicago Club, Chuck Barney, sits on the city council.
