And So It Begins: Democrat Calls Palin “Affirmative Action Pick”

And here you thought affirmative action is a good thing.

Let me be clear about something: If John McCain picked Sarah Palin simply because she’s a woman that would be a wrong and insulting decision.  But I don’t think he did.  I think he picked Palin because she’s a staunch conservative and a young up-and-coming Republican star who compliments his more wintered appearance.

But setting that aside for a moment, what does this “affirmative action” line mean if we examine it more closely?  That people who accept assistance from affirmative action programs don’t really deserve to succeed?  That affirmative action policies, which mandate decision making based on things like skin color and gender, is wrong?

If liberals are thinking that about Palin right now maybe they’re finally getting a taste for how conservatives have felt about affirmative action for a long time now.  Which isn’t to say that Palin deserves to be called an “affirmative action pick.” She doesn’t.  But this does illustrate how utterly bereft of principle the left is.
