Americans Going to Canada for Flu Shots

I have never gone to get a flu shot. I thought about it last year. There are plenty of vaccines available for people that are at risk of serious problems or death, if the people that don't need them don't get them.

With a shortage of flu vaccine across the country, Margaret Holmen and others from the Powers Lake Senior Citizens Center have been talking about going to Canada for their shots. Clinics and pharmacies across the border are offering to inoculate U.S. residents, and Holmen said she planned to call clinics in Estevan, Saskatchewan, if she cannot get a flu shot in North Dakota this week.

Why do they have it in Canada and not here?

Canada does not have a shortage because it doesn't get vaccine from the British supplier.

Why don't we get the vaccine from the same place as Canada? Because, I guess, of the FDA.

This is where I part from the deep Republicans. I do not think that people should be protected from themselves. I like "Survival of the fittest." I love The Darwin Awards.

Let the FDA open it all up... If you don't know what it contains, too bad for you. If you buy a product that is just sugar water, too bad for you. On second look, that might not be such a good idea, would it? We can't have it both ways on this stuff. You can't yell "Protect us from stuff from other countries", while in the same breath screaming "why can't we get this stuff faster."
