And he’ll win one for sure.  Because, c’mon.  It’s Al Gore.  And global warming.

Like Hollywood is going to pass that up.

WASHINGTON (CNN)—Al Gore may have lost the 2000 presidential election by the slimmest of margins, but the former vice president is hoping his critically acclaimed movie on global warming, “An Inconvenient Truth,” experiences a different fate at the upcoming Oscars.

The movie received two Oscar nods Tuesday—one for best documentary and one for best original song: Melissa Etherige’s “I Need to Wake Up.”

No way Etherige gets best song, but Gore for best documentary?  It’s a lock, even with his competition being two anti-war films about Iraq, one about pedophiles in the Catholic church and Jesus Camp (which SA readers will be familiar with).

By the way, looking at Gore’s competitors in the best documentary category can you still imagine anyone trying to argue that Hollywood doesn’t lean to the left?  All that’s missing are documentaries painting a utopian picture of socialized medicine and paying loving tribute to Che Guevera.
