Voter apathy is a scourge that does huge amounts of damage to this country. We talk about "majority rules," yet a majority of our population doesn't even vote in most elections. Most people think they're covered if they vote in the big elections, like the Presidential election or congressional elections, but what they don't realize is the place where their vote counts the most are the smaller, local elections. City council members, mayors, state legislators and governors make more decisions that effect your every day life than anybody else in the country, yet the elections for these positions typically have the worst voter turn out.

Its something I talk about all the time. In fact, I refuse to have a political argument with somebody who doesn't vote regularly. To me, if you couldn't take time out of your schedule to vote on an issue you care enough to argue about then you don't really care about it.

So its with great displeasure that I saw a picture of this t-shirt on the Drudge Report today:

There's nothing quite like encouraging people to not care about their government. The person who wears this kind of shirt deserves to live under the rule of a dictator like Fidel Castro for a year. Then maybe they'd have an appreciation for the democratic process.
