Sigh...

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Civil rights campaigners sued the Pennsylvania town of Hazleton on Tuesday, seeking to block one of America's toughest local laws against illegal immigrants.

The suit says Hazelton's City Council violated the U.S. constitution when it passed a law denying business permits to companies that hire illegal aliens and fining landlords who rent homes to them.

Violates the Constitution? And what constitutional provision is being violated here? The right of businesses to hire illegal workers? The right of landlords to harbor illegal aliens by granting them lease of their property? I'm no constitutional scholar, but I don't remember that document containing provisions that protect any of that stuff.

Really, all a business or landlord has to do to be in compliance with this city ordinance is refrain from breaking the law by hiring/harboring illegal immigrants. That's it. Just don't break the law.

Apparently the ACLU has a problem with that.
