A great ad from the folks at BritainandAmerica.com:
Leftists will likely sneer at this as little more than pro-USA propaganda and blatant jingoism, but is it really? Certainly it’s pro-U.S., but isn’t that a refreshing change from all the blame the U.S. takes for the ills of the world?
We get blamed for doing nothing on global warming because we haven’t signed on to Kyoto, yet the European nations who signed on aren’t meeting their commitments and some of the worst carbon-emitters in the world, like China, are exempted.
We get blamed for causing trouble in the middle east, yet the perverted and violent version of Islam which springs from that region has been attacking the west long before America invaded Iraq.
We get blamed for being imperialists, but our military has undoubtedly liberated more people from tyranny in the last 60 years than any other nation in the history of the world. And certainly our military has done more good against tyranny in the world than the impotent and ineffective, but much-lauded in liberal circles, United Nations.
We get blamed for being a selfish and greedy nation, yet we provide more in funding to the UN and it’s global project than any other two nations’ contributions put together. And we do this despite our perennial role as the UN’s whipping boy for all the world’s ills.
We get blamed for having an economy that exploits the rest of the world, yet our businessmen, innovators and inventors have been responsible for most of the world’s major advances in the last century. The invention of the car? That was us. The invention of the airplane? That was us. Computers? Us too. Internet? Hell our military came up with that.
But all this isn’t to say that America is better than the rest of the world. I’m not meaning to sound superior, but this nation is the foremost force for good in this world, like it or not. And it’s high time we got some recognition for it.
