Are you really willing to risk the nation because you find McCain distasteful?
As I said I’m not convinced that McCain won’t be worse for the country than Obama.
Not that I think McCain himself would be worse, but having a Republican screw up the country would pretty much screw things up forever.
You can get all huffy with me. For my part I don’t consider your motives to support McCain as an intent to screw up the country.
The problem is the candidate. At this point I don’t know what’s to be done about it. Too bad the guys so stupid as to be shooting himself (and us) in the foot.
If he loses against a turkey like Obama HE must be a complete turkey.

The last Democrat reign lasted 60 years!
And the McCain Republicans screwed that up in just 12. Why wouldn’t we hand him the keys to the family car?

The sooner the shooting starts, the better.

Whistler: We don’t have to give the keys to John McCain. We can stand by and let them be given to Barack Obama. If that’s Ok with you, then I am astonished.
Can you guarantee that McCain will screw up the country? No.
McCain isn’t shooting himself in the foot. He is taking some positions which you find distasteful.
“If he loses agaist a turkey like Obama"… it will be our fault! Obama may be a turkey, but he is on a landslide course to win this election while you continue to whine about McCain.

Distasteful, downright idiotic, socialists, useless and dangerous.

In what areas do you think that McCain is worse or equal to Obama? [Don’t forget gun control, free speech or national defense]

I think we’re more likely to get BAD global warming legislation with McCain. What’s frightening is that the turkey thinks that an European “cap and trade” is a free market solution.
The same thing goes for illegal immigration. With McCain pandering to La Raza I think his border security talk is just that.
I like what McCain’s saying about taxes. Too bad he’s hard to consider credible on the issue.
You bring up freedom of speech. I think McCain’s record speaks for itself.
Regarding other issues conservatives hold near and dear. I don’t see supporting this guy who’s going to destroy the party is going to help.

Whistler: You think we might get BAD global warming legislation from McCain? And so it’s Ok to let Obama win?
What the HELL do you think we’re going to get from Obama!!!???
This endless posting of speculative ‘mights’ and ‘maybes’ by folks who resent McCain does nothing but clear the path to the White House for Barack Obama… and we KNOW what he’s going to do.

Pparets: You seem to be failing in enemy identification today. Whistler and Rob (Nor me) are not your enemies, they understand the extremist political ideology of Obama and do not want him elected.
However, more often than not those that pretend to be our friends can do more harm to us than enemies that are easy to identify. We know Obama and his liberals pals will try to do X and we can resist them and fight them every step of the way. McCain, as has been his pattern in public life puts on conservative clothes, then goes along with the most liberal Democrats and pats himself on the back for being a maverick. In this way he can do a great deal of harm by enacting the very policies and programs conservatives hate, while doing it in the name of conservatism. It is often true that better the enemy you know than the friend that is a enemy in secret.
Rob was making the point that it might be better, in a way, if a defeat caused the Republicans and Conservatives to wake the hell up. He wasn’t advocating their defeat or proposing it would be good for America in the short term. I can understand and respect that view as it has occurred to me on occasion; but, I also rejected it as not being good for America as an Obama Presidency and a filibuster proof Congress might to so much harm that Conservatism would be all but dead in America.
Respectfully, I think your rage is misplaced and you are reading ‘whining’ into philosophical discussions that does not exist. Further, in this case I think you are targetting the wrong people as enemies.
Neiman - 01:05pm on 05/16/2008
Preetty selective toot as you didn’t mention gun control or national defense. The dems would make us defenseless both domestically and nationally given a choice. As can easily be witnessed in gunless societies, once a population is disarmed and defenseless, they are victim to any governments whims.
Relax, neiman, we’re just having a ‘friendly’ debate.
