Total nonsense.  More of a feel good approach to our judicial system.  This is what happens when we allow lawmakers to stay in office too long.  They forget what life is about as they live in la-la land otherwise known as our capitol.

"Hate crime” is thought crime.  We don’t need that in a free country.

"Hate” crimes militate against justice:
You get one sentence if you break a guy’s arm,
you get a different sentence if you break his arm and call him a dirty name! That ain’t justice!

A hate crime, also known as a bias crime, is a criminal offense committed against a person, property, or society,
which is motivated, in whole or in part, by the offender’s bias against a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation
or ethnicity/national origin.

Here is the definition of ‘hate crime’ in Tennessee.  The reason they are debating it is to see if it fits this definition in the law.

Lestat, please try to follow along.

We’re pointing out that saying a crime against a citizen of one demographic is somehow worse than the exact same crime against a citizen of another demographic is stupid.  Orwellian.

Frankly, not in keepings with that whole “all men are created equal” thing.

While I agree with the comments and views expressed in the original post, without need for comment; I don’t think Lestat is of inferior intellect nor is he unable to follow the point being made, he focused on what the law said in Tennessee and that seems, on the surface, I have no idea how it is in practice there, to identify all groups equally as to what constitutes a hate crime. Do hate crimes laws make sense and should they be part of our law, which essentially makes thoughts into criminal acts? No! They make no sense and thought crimes are damn dangerous.

please!  Your watching geraldo?  Has anybody demonstrated more that he has less credibility than a crackwhore than geraldo?

I was busy feeding my baby.  He came on after Hannity’s America and I was too busy to change the channel.

He came on after Hannity’s America and I was too busy to change the channel.

So did Hannity tell you what you need to think for next week?  Did you absorb it all?  Hopefully there was no reading involved to confuse you.

No group should be more protected than any other.  A crime is a crime.  Period.
