No one who has actually dealt with the Chinese on economic or trade matters, or has spent any time living with or among them, would be surprised by the results of this survey. The dangers inherent in generalization aside, the Chinese are quite likely the most astute and industrious busness people on earth. They are also inveterate, and very capable, gamblers. Again, not all that surprising.

china is a capitalist country
Well, maybe. But Stalin’s Russia, Castro’s Cuba and Kim Jong-Il’s North Korea are all socialist countries. Where would you rather live, comrade?

the point is, China is proving that capitalism and democracy do not necessarily go hand and hand. the same with socialism and dictatorships.

China is not capitalist, not truly. They are employing capitalist ideas with state-owned business in an international market. Plus, just because a country has a capitalist doesn’t reflect on that country’s political structure. Though, given history, capitalism always leads to freedoms. As time goes on China will have a harder and harder time exerting control over its population who will want to engage in the free market.
Why you think this is somehow an endorsement for your socialist views is beyond me.

As it is now, French employers avoid hiring young workers because companies are virtually prohibited by law from firing them.
That’s not wholly the case. Lots of young workers are hired into temporary positions, but that doesn’t lead to the sort of stability that will decrease the overall youth unemployment rate.

In the US, we fail to hire young workers because they are inexperienced and don’t have degrees yet.
And that is why I may not even have a temp job this summer.

Rob, those countries you mentioned are not socialist, they’re communist dictatorships. There’s a big difference. The UK has had many socialist governments (not the present one, though) and it was certainly not a Communist dictatorship. That’s a crazy thought, my Dad in some 70s British gulag for voting Conservative!! But I fear this calling socialism communism thing will never go away with Americans, just like calling Britain England, or crisps chips!!
