This is classic leftie misdirection; no one has ever said that getting shot down is any sort of qualification to be President. The real problem for the lefties here is Obama’s lack of experience, and so, because that is absolutely true, they must shift attention somewhere else. Thus the strawman argument about one aspect of McCain’s military experience.
This is also a distraction from McCain’s obvious advantage in legislative and administrative experience.
Bottom line: It’s the policies they advocate for this country, and there’s not a whole lot of difference between them on that subject.
Obama (B.O. to his friends) and Clark and most Leftists are damning McCain with faint praise. “He’s a hero despite being a damn fool!”
I don’t know how Clark or anyone can, with a straight face, claim that after a remarkable military and political career, no matter what one may think of his various positions on issues; that McCain is less qualified than Obama to become POTUS because the latter has better judgment and character.
Those on the Right determined not to vote for McCain in this election cycle should be clear about one thing, IMO; their withheld or misplaced vote is for all intent and purposes their signature on a national suicide pact, wherein conservatism, no matter how lofty the ideals, will be dead for many decades, perhaps forever. A damn high price to pay because they want to punish McCain for his too often liberal tendencies.

Neiman,
I’m going to pinch my nose and pull the lever for McCain. Your argument is NOT going to sway those you disparage, so perhaps you should find a way to encourage them, vice disparaging them.

Actually, if Barack Obama wins, it guarantees us a true conservative President after him. See Carter begating Reagan, and Clinton ushering in a Republican congress. Obama would make people yearn for the Carter days. However, the damage he could do in a short time would be incalcuable. We are STILL feeling the effects of Carter’s foul ups. And we’re still dealing with Clinton’s screwups. So that’s an unacceptable risk with a man who’s more liberal than FDR. Though, electing McCain could put the Republican party at risk for greater losses if HE’S linked to failed socialist policies. Neither man is good for the country. And neither man is a good choice for the party. It’s quite the pickle.

How about the war, health care, immigration, trade, taxes. Yea, they different bobbie. Both might be right, both might be wrong, but there are clear differences in policy bobbie blue. You think anything outside of your personal comfort zone is all the same, but its not. Please try to be less general in your thinking, you will be more tolerated and look less like a dimwit.

Wesley Clark Was Right: Getting Shot Down In Vietnam Doesn’t Qualify You To Be President
A quote from the General whom accidentally bombed a Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia, now that’s a credible source.

Well to disparage anyone was not my intent, so maybe you can show me where I did that, as it is certainly not clear to me.
If I was disparaging anyone, I am sorry; but not only was that not my intent, I honestly don’t understand why you feel that way.

Remember what JFK said when somebody asked him how he became a war hero: “They sank my boat.”
You serve. You go in harm’s way. You answer your country’s call. Whether you’re shot down, become a hero, or handle goods in a quartermaster depot, you’ve done your duty. That’s what counts, and that’s what McCain did. (In fact, I would say above and beyond the call of duty.)
Shame on people like Clark who make cheap remarks.

It’s also worth noting that clark is ”the very model of the modern poli-General.”
