I just commented on a similar post at Sistah Toldjah. A leftist at that site commented the Dem party willl never nominate someone who hadn’t always been against the war. Kucinich was his choice. Rob, if the Dems are truly ruled by moveon and Soros, then I’ll bet you will vote for McCain over Kerry, Kucinich, Dean, Hillary, Feingold etc. If the Repubs nominate McCain and the Dems nominate a "conservative" (i.e. a Lieberman) then i’ll take a much closer look at the condidates. I think the Dems will continue to self destruct.

Eno, its a tough choice to make. The Democrats aren’t likely to nominate anybody I’m going to vote for, so obviously that leaves me voting either for the GOP or a third party. Assuming there is a third party candidate to my liking, do I risk hurting McCain and potentially putting the war on terror in the hands of someone like Kerry? I’m not sure. A third party candidate just isn’t going to win, and I’d hate to see Kerry or someone like him running the GWOT.
To be honest with you, I’d probably end up voting for McCain just for lack of anyone else. That doesn’t mean I’ll be happy about it or that I’ll support his campaign for the GOP nomination.

I’d just love to know what your objection to Kerry "running the GWOT" would be. Bush put us in Iraq for fucks sake, I doubt Kerry would have made such a dumb move.

"I’d just love to know what your objection to Kerry "running the GWOT" would be."
Speaking for myself, of course, beyond the fact that he lied about his military record and has yet to release the rest of his records as promised (most recently 2 years ago), has no discernible core values of beliefs beyond political expediency and has yet to take and hold a consistent public policy position on anything, has no executive or managerial experience of any kind, and has spent over 20 years in the US Senate with no substantive accomplishment to show for it (other than betraying the POW/MIAs left behind in Southeast Asia)… other than those modest areas of disagreement, there probably isn’t very much about Kerry to object to.

he lied about his military record Back that up.
has no discernible core values of beliefs beyond political expediency and has yet to take and hold a consistent public policy position on anything. Ah, the "flip-flop" meme. Here’s a newsflash - politicians change their mind over time. Want some evidence of "flip-flop"? I’ll give ya a dozen Bush flip-flops.
has no executive or managerial experience of any kind, and has spent over 20 years in the US Senate with no substantive accomplishment to show for it. That sounds a whole lot like George Bush to me, except for time spent in the senate - Bush spent his time running companies into the ground.
Blah-blah - what does all this have to do with Kerry being to do at least as "good" a job as Bush in the GWOT? Kerry is familiar with boots-onthe-ground combat in a way that Bush couldn’t imagine.

Of all the possible Republican candidates, RINO McCain is near or at the bottom. Almost anybody else would be prefered. The only Democrats that I would even considerr would be Lieberman or Zell Miller or someone like that (know anybody else?)

That’s your best argument, McAir, to use the F-word? I believe you are more intelligent than that, but yet you bring this "you take that back, or I’ll get my big brother to beat you up" crying…
Kerry lied about service - There are hundreds (right?) of Kerry-era vets who say so. Yes, there are the KErry supporters... But if he were to open his record, that might shed some light... Oh, unless it shed the wrong kind of light, the "Oops, I guess I wasn’t really there, doing what I said I was doing" kind of light.
So where is your argument that Kerry has done something useful (heck, I’d be entertained my non-useful. I’d like to see the goof attend the Session and actually vote once in a while!)? 20 years I all he has done, from what I’ve heard loosely over the last two years on Talk Radio, is name abuilding... Big friggin’ deal.
Management experience... He can’t hardly run his wife, let alone a company. I believe Bush owned a baseball team that everyone says he bilked and sold for a winfall... Well, the galss-half-full crowd might say he improved the "business" of teh baseball team (they are businesses, not sports teams, by the way) enought o sell at a proift. Sounds like management to me... And that oil company he owned, I don’t knwo much of it but I know this: If he sucked at it the Dems would have pointed it out to make him look inept (you know, he is dumb, he is a puppet, he doesn’t run his team, all that talk...)
I’d say Bush has done a decent enough (not perfet, sure) job at leading a HUGE comapny (the Adminstration) while undergoing HUGE setbacks (terrorism, nature, international intrigue)…
And for the record - I am looking forward to the Saddam tapes being released. Something that would not have happened under JFK. Recall that news blip last week about the Iranians laughing at the Western World/UN/EU and their attempts to thwart thier Nuke program. Oops.. I guess "diplomacy" and sanctions aren’t as effective as the Jimmah Carter Liberals would have us believe…

Kerry lied about service - There are hundreds (right?) of Kerry-era vets who say so.
Any of them serve directly with Kerry, on his boat?
I’m not a vet. Yet it strikes me as distinctly unpatriotic that those of you that are would dismiss Kerry’s service in such a partisan fashion. Disagree with his politics, do not deny his service record.
And for the record - I am looking forward to the Saddam tapes being released. Me too. Duh! Ya think if they contained anything exculpatory for the Administrations claims that Fox at least wouldn’t be playing them 24/7?

McAir,
Real quick. I’ve got a class tonight. I’ll deal with the military record later.
"Changing their mind over time" is fine. That’s called nuance in the new age lib parlance, I guess But changing one’s mind over lunch… and then again at dinner… and then ...?
As for "boots on the ground, I assume you don’t mean those boots in Cambodia… nor those of the POW/MIAs that Kerry betrayed has head of the Senate Select Committee.
Anyone else, and we have a discussion of policy and issues. Not Kerry! He does not deserve to call himself a Vietnam vet.
Well said, Rob.
