It’s one thing to use it, who’s stupid enough to leave proof laying around?

Whistler: The military is not immune from recruiting a few freaking morons and this guy is their poster child. Come on, he knew it wasn’t acceptable behavior and then he took or allowed pictures? As that great philosopher Bugs Bunny would say, “What a maroon!”

Neiman - 05:05pm on 05/18/2008

This moron needs to be chaptered out of the military on other than honorable conditions.

Lestat: How about a medical discharge for terminal idiocy?

Neiman - 05:05pm on 05/18/2008

Whu all this reverence for the Koran which many believe is the blueprint for muslim terrorism, women enslavement and other intolerant actions?  If someone hung up a copy of Mein Kampf or Lenins papers(similar works) for target practice, no one would get excited.

Lestat: How about a medical discharge for terminal idiocy?

That would not be on other than honorable terms.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. military commanders have apologized to community leaders in Iraq after a U.S. soldier used a copy of the Koran for shooting practice, fearing an outburst of anger among U.S.-allied tribesmen.

Bloody protests have sometimes broken out across the Muslim world when the Islamic faith has been insulted.

Remember,......this isn’t news unless Rob approves of it.  The fact that an enormous set back with Iraqi tribesman and political leaders could occur based on the actions of a moron, should go unmentioned.

This should be food for thought for people like Nieman, who constantly attack the Koran and the people who study it.  This is a clear sign that ignorant and stupid insults are far more dangerous than they think.

But this lesson will not be learned, nor will change anything.  Because sites like this blog encourage this type of behavior.

Hannitized:  You are right. An ignorant and provocative thing to do. The U.S. has apologized.

But, desecrating a Koran doesn’t match up to killing 3,000 on 9/11 or beheading a helpless Daniel Pearl live on video.

I have never seen anyone on SAB recommend desecrating a holy book. Have you?

Reuters even goes so far as to obtain pictures of the shot-up Koran and counts the bullet holes in it.

Because nobody would ever accuse the media of lying about facts in order to make the soldiers look bad.

It makes perfect sense to photograph evidence and to provide it.

The Muslim hand-wringing over the treatment of the Koran has always struck me as being a rather juvenile form of idol worship.
