I hate when the UPS truck parks behind me and I can’t get out! Wher are the cops when they are parked behind me? Sorry! I have to have an outlet somewhere???

I really don’t see any special reason why they should be exempt from the laws the rest of us have to follow.

I’m with whistle. If this were not just a money-grabbing scam, they’d start towing the bastards or chocking their wheels. If you’ve got enough money, you can park on the tracks and dare a train to hit you.

Well, it seems that the people, through our elected municipal leaders, could agree to give certain qualifying businesses a pass on parking tickets given that they provide us services we want.
Expecting a UPS driver to find a legal parking spot to drop off every package in downtown San Francisco is asking quite a lot.

I agree with Whistler too. And I know what Zsa Zsa means. When UPS delivers to my neighbors the guy parks in front of my driveway every time. Not at the curb and not in front of my neighbor.... in my drive way. It might be that UPS drivers don’t like to walk?? That’s why they park on main street blocking traffic both ways. I’ve had this gripe for a long time. They park where ever they want. If they’re parked illegally… give em a ticket. Minot should follow suit.

Well that would be the prerogative of the city government, but I don’t think that anybody should get special rules unless they are offering emergency services such as an ambulance or paramedic.
My errand might be as quick and important as the UPS dropping off that guys mail order blow up doll so why shouldn’t I get special treatment too.

The problem is: Is that what gov’t is for? As I see it one of the major problems in this country is special favors for the few, such as tax incentives for business. That’s just not what gov’t in our Republic is for. If we as consumers, or as businesses want things to make our lives easier it is incumbent on us to come up with - and pay for - the ways to carry it out. This kind of thinking - that we can use gov’t to make things easier for a particular group at the expense of another - is how we got to where we are now.

I wonder how much they would have to pay to be issued flashing red lights and the right to speed and run through red lights?

That would be sweet!

I guess Rob is right. UPS drivers can hardly wait for parking tickets, but still, they have to obey a law like we, the others, do. Maybe they should find a spot out of downtown and walk to the delivery point. We will be happy with that, wouldn’t we?
