This pathetic bit of high-minded nonsense, by people who ought to be able to consider themselves adults, reads like a chapter out of George Orwell’s Animal Farm.
Obviously the University of Rhode Island needs to consider some serious remedial coursework in Civics, or some serious refunds of tuition.

Do you suppose that the student senate was able to explain why this scholarship was so bad and the other scholarships that actually excluded people were good?
Or did they just give that up as too hard for their little brains.

Dude.
“Kicked off campus” is a bit different than “derecognizing” wouldn’t you agree? Who cares if the SGA (student government) recognizes a club. It doesn’t make it not a club. I was in a club at school that the SGA didn’t recognize. All that means is they can’t order you around, make you have a certain amount of members, and make you submit reports. That consideration doesn’t go with your white male victim position here though. D’oh. The SGA really provides crap funding too. The club I was in got a ton of funding outside the SGA and… we did scholarships. The only thing this group needs to do is do a little fund raising and raise the amount on the scholarship. Duh. Put away your hankie.

Seeking alternative funding wouldn’t allow them to remain such passive victims. They might have to give up the Dem act and do some work.

Where is the ACLU now?
Mickey - 04:04am on 04/19/2007
Sparkie,
The hankie isn’t the point. And neither are the scholarships, the reports, or the crappy funding. The point is the systemic pattern of ideological intolerance by the very folks who bray about the myth of collegiate tolerance.
If the URI GOP Club had any serious stones, they’d send out speaking engagement invitations to Ann Coulter, Jim Gilchrist, and Karl Rove… then organize a legal defense fund-raiser for Scooter Libby.

That’s all I’m saying. I don’t like Coulter or Rove and don’t think they do anything positive for the party in general… but whatever. They should just let this incident be fire under their ass instead of whining about how its unfair. College students are pretty suceptible to the ‘fair’ whining…
Republicans are pro the ability to self determine. They should do just that. Why don’t they just do like that Iranian and take advantage of it?

No they don’t. The school is unranked. It sucks. Most highschools are probably more rigorous.
It’d be funny if it were so pathetic.
“weren’t”
Doh.
Thanks, fixing it.
