Always glad to hear troops are getting what they need. That being said, having spent several years in US Army, they are not getting to best they can get. They are getting what the “Lowest Bidder” is willing th supply to them. If they were getting the best, they would have been issued cast ceramic full torso armor 20 years ago. Also, they would not be running around in HMMWVs instead of APCs designed for combat.

2Hotel9, I didn’t know you hated America.
I’m sorry, did I miss something? Care to explain your comment Dave?

Yea, dave. I am just a big ole America-hating Democrat like you.
Dave claims that he is a libertarian minded individual which would preclude him from ever coming close to being a Democrat. As to why he uses the Democrat talking points,...your guess is as good as mine.

We have to fall back on the wisdom of our forefathers. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and claims to be a libertarian, then it is a duck. Back to the original point. In 1984 the DoD wanted to shift R&D into bodyarmor development. They were constrained to limit this and instead focus on hightech toys. All the issues concerning stopping power versus weight versus mobility could have been settled long ago. Instead we are doing it realtime, with soldiers lives being the currency we pay for delays caused by partisan politics from the left.

You know goddamn well that if a liberal had expressed 2hotel9’s sentiments you’d question his patriotism.
Did you read the original poster’s thread?
The Pentagon is working to provide our troops with the very best armor available to keep them as safe as possible and the Times decides to twist the story into an insinuation that we are failing to protect our troops. Which is total crap, of course, but the media (always looking for an opening to stick it to the Bush administration) isn’t going to let little things like “reality” get in the way of sensationalist scuttlebutt.
How are what the New York Times printed (which Rob defined as “an opening to stick it to the Bush administration") and what 2hotel9 wrote factually different?

Really? Well that is news to me. Thanks for telling me what I would do Dave. The next time, maybe you should stick with telling us what you would do or believe.
