Pay attention to what is happening. Remember that Axis of Evil chatter.

Ibrahim al-Jaafari made the first visit to Iran by an Iraqi prime minister since Saddam Hussein’s ouster, saying Saturday that a bond with the Shiite Muslim-dominated state was an “inseparable part of Iraq’s foreign relations.”.

“We can compensate for the coldness of past relations and become a role model for the region,” Iran’s first vice president Mohammad Reza Aref said after meeting with al-Jaafari.

Iran was ready to work with Iraq to provide security as well as political and economic assistance, Aref said.

He didn’t use the word “quick”, but did say “speed” and “fast pace.”

Pulling out quickly does not always prevent unintended consequences.  Whether that be insurgent activity or pregnancy.

An admirable, continued attempt at Revisionist Rationalization, Rob! Which continues to contradict the Right’s previous macho posturing of staying put till we win!

Until this moment, we were not there to just ‘plant the seed to defeat the terrorists’, the Bush administration promised we would! We were not merely going to ‘expose’ average Iraqis to ‘western-style liberty and democracy’, we were going to rebuild their country into an Islamic model made in our image.

You can ignore the polling that reflects the Iraqis belief that if the Americans leave, the violence will stop. They risked their lives in January, because they were promised the politicians they elected would have the power to enforce their will. And, even faced with the strong possibility of civil war if the Coalition pulled out, they still want us gone.

Holy Cow, TCF, you are one delusionsal fellow…

Can you back up any of the following claims?

Until this moment, we were not there to just ‘plant the seed to defeat the terrorists’, the Bush administration promised we would

[Iraqis] still want us gone.

Which continues to contradict the Right’s previous macho posturing of staying put till we win

And as far as that goes, the reduction of troops is contingent upon the fact that we HAVE won.  Winning of course is the successful setup of a democracy able to secure it’s own borders and security to a reasonable extent.

An admirable, continued attempt at Revisionist Rationalization, Rob!

How?

Which continues to contradict the Right’s previous macho posturing of staying put till we win!

No it doesn’t.  The “macho posturing”, or more accurately a declaration, stays the same.

And, even faced with the strong possibility of civil war if the Coalition pulled out, they still want us gone.

Good.  It shows us that they are ready to take care of the coming problems and they are aware of what those problems may entail.

Of course, woof… We’ve already lost.  The “bad” guys have won.  Because if it makes Bush look bad, you would consider America itself the enemy…

Sphagnum - 06:07pm on 07/27/2005

Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Iranians won.

WOOF - 06:07pm on 07/27/2005

Sphagnum the Iraqi’s are making oil deals, defense, deals economic deals, with the Iranians.  A deal was made to have the Iranians train Iraqi troops.
You have an argument that these is are good things?
The wealth, credibility, and blood of America spent to establish a Shia nation allied with Iran.

How many more wins like this can we afford?
