Thanks for the info, I wasn’t aware of that. I can see why Ford would limit production then.
Still, I think the auto industry could be handling the marketing of hybrid vehicles better. Have you seen what the hybrid vehicles look like? They’re ugly. They should be putting this technology into the models people are already buying instead of creating new models and trying to make them look futuristic or something.

Ford isn’t developing its own hybrid system; it’s licensing one from Toyota, presumably related to the one used in the Prius and the upcoming Lexus hybrid SUV.
I’m guessing, therefore, that Toyota’s license limits the number of vehicles Ford can produce using Toyota technology.

Well, the Honda Civic hybrid is indistinguishable from workaday Civics except for its higher price tag. On the other hand, the Insight at the far end of the lot is decidedly weird-looking, and neither generation of Toyota Prius has been exactly beautiful.

I think they should be putting hybrid technology in everything, from light-duty pickups down to hatch-backs.
