If Aznar had come clean at the beginning it would have made a difference.....hmmm, no, probably not given that the population who elected him didn’t want Spanish troops in Iraq to begin with. On the bright side, perhaps the Dominican Republic can pony up more troops. And anyway, it was a force of 1300? Surely your president can activate a few more guard units to fill the void? How long do you think it will take before Poland leaves Iraq?

Let’s see, al Qaeda doesn’t want Spanish troops in Iraq. Al Qaeda bombs Madrid to this end and Spain pulls its troops out.

The more the terrorists in Iraq fight us the more troops we should send in. We should show them that their resistance is futile.
