Considering who Obama is trying to draw to vote for him, I’d figure none of them would have a clue who the Grateful Dead are.

Not really sure if the masses of the Left consider them so much as establishment as just being spoiled meat (e.g. recognizable as true Leftist) .
Once a Leftist who needs to appeal to a broader audience has been outed a lot of their usefulness has been lost. Thus, Kerry and Gore aren’t coming back for a second bite of the apple. Perhaps—just perhaps—the real Leftist establishment recognizes the baggage that the Clintons carry with them wherever they go. The Left is in the business of obtaining and maintaining power—any threat to that makes you a liability.
Perhaps they know that as much as the Clintons are darlings of the Left, Hillary in particular raises such bile in those who have come to know (hate) her, that a great number of Conservatives who might otherwise sit out an election she is part of, will be invigorated to get off the Lazyboy and go vote against her. This translates as a liability.
If she can’t get into office, she can’t do their bidding. Best start with an unknown who nobody hates just yet. That’s how Clinton got in, and that’s how Carter got in—nobody knew what complete buttholes they were.
My guess is this is why the Lefteratti are abandoning the Clintons and giving their endorsements to a relatively unblemished Leftist.

I think you’re right, Zig--there’s a lot of stuff in print this AM from sources such as The New Repubic and the NY Daily News, expressing concern about the Repuclican mud-slinging machine getting ready for a run at Hillbilly--not just Hillary. If Hillary doesn’t close this out on Tuesday, I believe her base is going to distill down to factions that only Hillary would consider worthy of note--and she will be toast.
I believe a Hillary candidacy gives McCain a chance--I belive Obama cleans his clock. Maybe other R’s feel the same way.

Ya know what would be fun?
Hey rob why doncha throw up your old avatar pic, ya know, the one with you and your beard. It would be wonderful to see it side by side with the Clinton’s smelly pic.
Come on rob, do it, it would be great fun!
