Yes, there is more to that story than “she wants to run for president”. Interesting, and very hard to speculate on.
Too bad for Alaska, she was very effective up there.

I get the feeling it is the result of people constantly filing unfounded, nuisance ethics violations claims. She has had to defend against 15 so far (all have been found without merit). Seem to be no penalty / low bar of entry to file a claim.

The politics of personal destruction is at play here, attacking her legally with nonsense to drive her into poverty.
However, the queen is not dead!

Im not sure of her reasons, but in my 51 years of life I have never seen a political figure treated so terrible by the media, political hacks, the beltway repubs, and for Christ sakes even the SOP Macains own people.Something may be up,dont know, dont care,She is a good and decent woman who would and still will get my vote if the occasion comes again.Ask God to send her and her family a special blessing.

In her speech she said that she wasn’t going to run for gov. again and that lame ducks just skate though the end of their term traveling and junk like that and she just didn’t want to do that.
Well, why didn’t she stay in office and not do that? She really could have broken the straw man mold she just set up, by being an active governor for the entirely of the term the people of Alaska voted her to do.
She quit on her state.
What a loon!!!
Her speech sounded like she was conceding a homeroom president contest.

Odd it is that Sarah Palin, during the last year, has been governor of a rather backward, unimportant, could have been governed by an ape, state. Now, since she’s decided to do the honest thing, and relinquish her office, I’m sure to run for higher office, she’s called a quitter by even some conservatives. It’s sort of like a ball player who is hitting .560 at Omaha and wants to try a higher league. Who would fault him for doing that? It is, Alaska who will be poorer for her leaving. But She’s left them with a vibrant Government, a huge pipeline deal, honest officials, and $20 million in free travel advertisements. Not bad for a ‘Cuda.. PS. Can you visualize Caroline Kennedy, who, but for her own mouth, might have become a Senator from New York, making that “Off the Cuff” speech?

Greetings:
Does anybody anymore take seriously that when you run for an elected office you have made a contract with the electorate to serve out your term of office. Mrs. Palin is/was a state’s governor. This isn’t something like a health club from which you just resign. I can see the Democrats campaigning against her saying, “Well, if she doesn’t resign, she might make a good (fill in the blank). Very, very strange.
