And yes, I’ve heard the libs (and many conservatives) respond to that by saying that she’s just observing custom.  Which is an argument I bought into...at first.  But after thinking about it for a while, I still don’t think it was appropriate for her to put that headscarf on.

It’s not like wearing a beanie when visiting a Synagogue.  That beanie the Jews wear isn’t a symbol of oppression.  Like it or not, Islam is known for the way it oppresses women.  Particularly Islam as it is practiced in the middle east.  That head scarf Pelosi wore is a symbol for the way Muslims treat their women like second class citizens.

I mean, it’s custom to wear a white robe and a pointy hat to a Ku Klux Klan meeting, but that doesn’t mean it’s right.

I love how you blinkered, partisan liberal twits will go out of your way to cast Bush as some sort of tyrant and then completely ignore Islam’s habit of facilitating spouse abuse and treating women like property.

And what’s this about Catholic women wearing head scarves in church?  My sister’s catholic.  My niece and nephew go to Catholic school.  I’ve yet to see any of them wear a head scarf.

I wasn’t aware of that (not surprising given my personal spiritual beliefs), but why do you think the Catholics halted that tradition?  Could it have something to do with feminism maybe?  An ideal you liberals usually champion?

All I’m saying is that the proper response from Pelosi should have been, “I’m not humiliating myself by wearing that silly symbol of your oppressive culture because I am a proud, free American woman.”

I would have cheered her for that, and so should have you libs (especially the feminists).  But instead you’re all too caught up multiculturalism, the politics of victimization and appeasing those jerks.
