What a country, eh?

Kevin - 08:03pm on 03/27/2008

It seems that you are determined to keep Rev Wright in the spotlight and turn this election into one of race rather than character. Or maybe you are trying to make life intolerable for Wright. I know you are aware of underhanded abuses of funds by ministers of other churches, such as Oral Roberts and Bob Jones Universities.
Yet I don’t hear cries of indignity againt these preachers who have made a killing off the backs of those who were only seeking hope. I think that in the end, the best thing for this country is to take the tax exempt status away from churches. If you want to play politics then pay like everyone else. Too many charlatans are robbing the people and enriching themselves with 2 or more homes, private jets, luxury vehicles. And just think of all the money that would come into the treasury. Like I have said before, I love my country. But there is no denying the deep wounds inflicted by its racist past. We are trying to move on. Why don’t you?

Rev Wright should wind up the same way as Jim and Tammy Bakker did.

Watashiwa:  Wright is a man who was the spiritual guide for Senator Brack Obama - a man who wants to be President of the United States - for twenty years!

Yes!  He needs to be kept in the spotlight until we clearly understand the depth of his influence on the man who would be president.

What is it with the left and wanting to make everyone a victim?

Rev. Wright chose to make himself a public figure.  He chose to be a part of Obama’s campaign.  He chose to make hateful, bigoted comments about my race and others.  Now he’s facing criticism for those comments.

He’s not a victim.  He’s just participating in a free and vibrant democracy.  That it’s inconvenient for your politics right now matters not at all.

watashiwa,

You could not be more wrong-headed if you tried!  Mr. Obama, with virtually no experience in any an executive capacity, nor in any of the areas of prominent national policy such as foreign affairs and national defense, or economic and tax policy, has nothing to offer but an admittedly glib speaking style and his character.  And it is his character specifically that is called into question by his long-term associations, such as with Rev. Wright, “Tony” Rezko, William Ayers, and Louis Farakhan.

All Obama has to offer us is his chracter and his nice speeches (which are pure fluff). Since a part of a person’s character is judged by their friends...let alone their mentors...this is no insignificant issue. If McCain’s or Clinton’s mentor screamed “Black people like to keep us in fear. They rob us. They murder and mug us. And they are vicious, evil monsters, bent on sucking us dry of our money!” either candidate would be ruined. Forget on a Presidental level...either would be done, PERIOD.

That Obama’s mentor screams “White people invented AIDS to kill US!” and is written off is emblematic of some sickness in Barcleftics. “How can you point out the painfully obvious?” they wail. “Isn’t it bad enough he had to explain himself? Now you want him to not win? You’re all filthy racists!”

Like all false men of God, the Right Reverend Wright has spent his life running the long con. Steal money from the gullible and elderly, so he can step out, vastly wealthy and riding the “down low” like his hero Willie Jeff. Exactly how is he helping his downtrodden brethren? How many poor, uneducated blacks are going to benefit from him stealing all that money? Cause preachers do not retire to multi-million dollar homes, con men do.

I doubt that any of them have railed against materialism quite like the (hypocritical) wrong “Rev” Wright!
