"Can’t we all just get along?"---Rodney King, who was awarded $3.8 million in taxpayer assets and income

I question whether or not Barack Obama is ready for such a thing given his reverend’s propensity for blaming everything from the HIV virus to the 9/11 attacks on the racism of white America.
It seems like you’re questioning whether Barack Obama’s reverend is ready for such a thing, not Barack himself.
I can understand your confusion. They all look alike to me too!

Obama attended his church for 20 years. That’s clearly the sort of racial discussion he subscribes to.

Barack Obama is probably right that America IS ready for just such a discussion. Whether that discussion should take precedence over a discussion about our conflict as de facto leader of Western Civilization with radical Islamist terrorism, or a discussion about putting our nation’s fiscal and economic affairs in order as part of the de facto global economy is, in each case questionable.
I would also question whether young Senator Barack Obama is actually qualified to lead such a discussion. he is undoubtedly a rising star on the Left, all the more so because he has roots, purportedly, in both the black and white communities. But we have heard precious little from himn about his white heritage, other than his recent speech in which he figuratively threw his white grandmother under the bus. And his choice of place of worship and his choice of primary spiritual advisor, and his chosen associations in other fields certainly leave substantial questions in the minds of many about his judgment and his wisdom.
Finally, I question whether his desire to instigate this discussion about race in any qay qualifies him to be President of the U.S. I don’t believe so. Barack Obama is a stirring and charismatic speaker, at least when he has a teleprompter handy. But his bold proposal strikes me as a purposefully elegant diversion from subjects that should more properly be discussed this election year.
Objectionable though they both may be, there is room in this country for both Jeremiah Wright and David Duke. We have more pressing problems. And thus far, Barack Obama’s answers are, charitably, on the thin side.

Obama actually just gave a speech indicating the exact opposite; I’m surprised you didn’t hear about it. (Don’t worry, I’m sure it’s “excerpted” for you.) I’m not sure, but it might take more than a YouTube collage of a candidate’s one-time pastor to “clearly” determine the specifics of his views on American racial relations.
Just kidding! It’s already been decided!!!

one-time pastor
One time for a score of years. Thanks for the comic relief, tool!

An honest discussion would have to start with the enslavement of blacks by the Democrat Party Welfare State for roughly 5 decades and the Democrat Party policies of preferences that tell the black community they are incapable of succeeding by their own efforts. Next it would have to have discussions of Black against white and Jews racism. Without these two being front and center, any discussion would prove to be a meaningless waste of time.

I wonder if Obama would like to have that discussion with any Canadians?

Obama may very well be an opportunistic racist...meaning “I’ll fit in here as long as it’s beneficial to me”. So much for “not politics as usual” huh?

Neiman, I agree with what you said would be needed for a meaningful discussion about race in this country. The only problem is that the dems will never admit that they were in favor of slaves and the view that colleges are teaching that black people can’t be racist since they do not have power to enforce racism. At least that is what NDSU is teaching their resident assistants in training!
