"The administration’s timidity in taking on its critics, openly and publicly, is self-defeating"
Openly is the key word. The admin is not timid when it comes to using proxies to defame someone and then saying the defamed is honorable in the administrations eyes.
As far as the President showing his teeth , I am sure the tooth Ken Mehlman will collect them from under
the Presidents pillow and leave a gift.
GW is in full defensive mode, covering up his jaw as Fitgerald keeps unleashing jabs and hooks with every filing.

Fitzgerald? Jabs? Hooks?
All Fitzgerald has done is uncover a crime that didn’t even exist until there was an investigation and then reveal that the President used perfectly legal channels to defend his administration’s policies against the lies of Joe Wilson.
I know this stuff has you lefties all in a froth, Woofie, but those of us with a grip on reality know better.

Fitgerald’s reality says "Moreover, given that there is evidence that other White House officials with whom defendant spoke prior to July14, 2003 discussed Wilson’s wife’s employment with the press both prior to, and after, July 14, 2003 - which evidence has been shared with defendant - it is hard to conceive of what evidence there could be that would disprove the existence of White House efforts to "punish" Wilson. [Fitzgerald filing, pg. 29-30]"

Yeah, keep the hope alive Woofie. One day your dreams might come true.

WOOF,
Still hoping for a "Merry Fitz-mas" I see. If the quote you cite is correct and accurate, what it really syas is that there is no hope of actually prosectuing anyone for "outing" poor Valerie. You may regard it as "punishing" Wilson, as may Fitzgerald for all we know. But even if it was such, that particular motive, while selectively objectionable to some, is still not illegal. Nor, apparently, has there been any identifiable violation of the Intelligence Identities Protection Act. So much for "Fitz-mas."
But if you put all your toenail clippings under your pillow at night, and think good thoughts when you go to sleep, ln the morning when you wake up you may find a dollar under your pillow! Really!

Think obstuction of justice , wire fraud, perjury, all those tools a prosecuter has in his bag.

WOOF,
Stick with the toenail fairy, kid. Much better odds.

I saw the press conference where Fitz talked about the Libby indictment. He was very careful to deny that any crime was committed in terms of outing a covert agent. He repeated that several times. Woof, your dog won’t hunt.
