Govt always acts to enrich and empower itself at our expense. Since we don’t demand any results from them, they continue to confiscate our money and give us cr*p like this in return.

It doesn’t matter which side of the government you’re on, they all want your money.
/me would prefer a longer yellow at some lights. Actually, I would prefer that most lights have the same amount of time just so I know when to slam on the brakes or when to speed up.
Sometimes the light seems to go straight from green to red, other times it seems to take forever in between. Why can’t there be a standard??

"The municipalities that are using these cameras and shortening up their yellows are generally run by liberals"
Really? I thought it was a law and order initiative.
The motorist is a chump with a cash hanging out of his pocket.
The pedestian, personna non grata.
The bicyclist , roadkill.

Woof: The shortening of the yellow, combined with the cameras, is a tax-raising function of the govt, therefore a leftie tactic. Res Ipsa Loquitur.

It’s not a tax, it’s a fine.

Shoot out the cameras. A high powered BB gun is sufficient enough to crack or break out the glass and is quiet enough to get the job done without alerting passerby. Another possibility is using a paint ball gun to splatter the camera with paint.
Good luck and don’t get caught.

Lik, you need to check out these cameras, they are quite substantial. Paintballs on the lense plates would be more effective.

Any time the govt creates a new way to confiscate more money from the public, it’s a tax.

The yellow lights around Boulder, CO are pretty short. I once calculated the deceleration force for the 4.5 second yellows they had there (even on wide roads) and figured that they were in the neighborhood of 0.5g. This is not only uncomfortable, but also impossible to obey on a wet road. Typical tire adhesion for a passenger car is around 1G, and it goes down quickly with rain or snow.
Those short yellow lights also make it difficult to impossible for bicyclists and pedestrians to get anywhere--the light turns when they’re about halfway across.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax says "A tax is an involuntary fee paid by individuals or businesses to a state, or to functional equivalents of a state, including tribes, secessionist movements or revolutionary movements."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fine says "A fine is money paid as a financial punishment for the commission of minor crimes or as the settlement of a claim. A synonym, typically used in civil law actions, is mulct."
As far as I’m concerned, running a red light is a crime, and is avoidable.
