Moore and bin Laden do sound alike.

Bush and Hitler look alike.

and because frankly parts of F911 were little more than pro-terrorist propaganda. This includes, as you pointed out, the favorable comparison of civilian-murdering terrorists to our minutemen

Where is that in the movie?

Dave:

Bush and Hitler look alike.

Wow, that’s deep.

Where is that in the movie?

Like that’s relevant to the point, exactly how?

For Dave, a slightly edited version of my remark:

... and because frankly parts of F911 and associated promotional statements were little more than pro-terrorist propaganda.

Because being pedantic is more important than considering whether bin Laden plagiarizes Moore.

As far as I can tell, the outrage is being provoked because our friends on the left equate uncomfortable with untruth.  Moore and bin Laden do sound alike.

It actually looks to me, though, that this is because Osama is plagiarizing Michael Moore, a tactic that is reasonable both because Osama is clueless about American culture, and because frankly parts of F911 were little more than pro-terrorist propaganda.  This includes, as you pointed out, the favorable comparison of civilian-murdering terrorists to our minutemen as well as the depiction of Baghdad before the war as a beneficent monarchy.

Michael Graham (WTKK Boston) hosted a call in contest this week called “Liberal or Bin Laden” where he would read a quote and a caller would have to guess which one said it.

He included quotes from Moore, Dean, Durbin, Murtha, Pelosi, and of course Bin Laden.

Hilarious… and scary.

Ofcourse OBL uses the words of others in his propaganda releases. That is how it is done. Get multiple translations of OBL’s, or any Arabic speakers, statements to the west and to their own population. Then compare them to what is released in our media outlets. You will quickly see that they are saying two completely different things, while claiming to us to be saying only one. What is scary is so many people who do not understand or accept the truth of this significant point.

2Hotel9,

Yeah, that has been a common tactic for decades.  Yassir Arafish was one of the masters of it… he’d appease Clinton and crew out of one side of his mouth and then encourage the slaughter of women and children out of the other.

Luckily there are groups such as MEMRI which translate for the rest of us.  It’s also interesting to note how Bin Laden’s talking points have changed in the last decade.  I started writing and reading about him in 96-98 timeframe while I was working with a former-War College Afghanistan expert.  Educational to say the least.

John Kerry posted a response on this over at Daily Kos of all places. He’s got all sorts of nasty things to say about comparing Moore to bin Laden, not one word to say about his colleague Hillary appearing at a fundraiser with Belafonte.

And he also didn’t say one word about the Seahawks’ chances in the Superbowl. What’s he thinking?

I think I understand why we haven’t captured bin Laden yet. See, when I thought he was a terrorist who’d killed 3,000 people, I was pissed. But when I found out on this site that Osama bin Laden is really no different from a left-wing film-maker, I can see why it’s not much of a priority.

Dave I like your slant and by the way Panthers by three.

OBL in more important to some alive than dead.

And so is Saddam, I have often thought why wasn’t that hole cleared?

I believe we’re saying that Moore’s rhetoric sounds like OBL’s rhetoric, not that Moore is hatching plots to fly planes into buildings.
