Congratulations Whistler, you discovered nuance. Don’t loose that skill when it is actually useful and necessary now.

Demonstrating your lack of knowledge again? There are many other uses of a baton including blocking strikes as well as using in takedowns and restraints.
Or do you support the police carrying a tool that is only good for beating someone’s head in.

What I dont understand is how you think this nuance makes a difference? What are you going to say when your son or daughter comes home with a busted nose or some kind of injury because another person used a baton in a “defensive” action?
It’s going to be an intimidating device that is not necessary. When an argument arises and some kid walks up with a billy-club to “argue” with you...that is sort of intimidating and it will eventually lead to trouble.

Nice bit of ignoring that you were way wrong about the use of such weapons.
I think most of the civilians that carry a “club” are people that are on the road a lot like truckers. They aren’t looking for trouble but feel that they’ve got a chance if they get jumped by several guys.
I feel no safer having the police harass them because the actual criminals are going to be armed in some way as they go about their crimes.
And it’s proven that if you disarm the law abiding you take away the risks from criminals and get more criminal activity.
The United Kingdom where this story is coming out of is a perfect example of that.

The softball bat has another purpose, billy-clubs have only one.
That still doesn’t justify a ban.
I see no point in having a billy-club.
So because you don’t see a point to owning one, even though other commenters have identified the reasons for owning one, it should be banned?
What are you going to say when your son or daughter comes home with a busted nose or some kind of injury because another person used a baton in a “defensive” action?
Well that depends. If it was truly defensive in nature, I’ll tell my son he got what he deserved for attacking another individual. If it wasn’t really defensive, or an overly excessive use of force, I’ll press criminal charges and file a lawsuit. What I won’t do is whine like a bitch and have everyone else’s club taken away just because one individual used their club unlawfully.

Yes it is intimidating. But banning a billy-club won’t do anything. That kid will just use a baseball bat or some other blunt instrument.

Hannitized,
Why don’t you focus on the SayAnything surfing section where you might actually have something you can comment on about which you have the first clue?

Ok, the day you can pick up a scoop of rice with two billy clubs, like you would using chopsticks you might have a point.
That is if you can buy rice. Liberals great alternative fuels has already caused shortages and rationing is just beginning.
Ok. Talk to me about the nitrogen cycle.
Talk to me about the Brayton cylce, or disassociation of exhaust gases after a standard combustion cycle. See, I can do it too. What does nitrogen have to do with British weapon legislation?
If guns continue to be demonized like they are and the Supreme Court doesn’t follow the Constitution and rule that people have a right to own guns this could be the U.S. in a couple decades. Scary

I believe the discussion is about walking around carrying a weapon in public. Does it not?
Can you give me an example of when a trucker is in danger? Are you talking about carrying a club in your truck?
If so, carry a bat, a golf club, A TIRE IRON. There are countless alternatives.
I feel no safer having the police harass them because the actual criminals are going to be armed in some way as they go about their crimes.
So youre saying people should walk around carrying billyculbs in the event of a robbery? If a criminal has a gun, a billy club isn’t going to help anything except for probably get you shot.
Nice bit of ignoring that you were way wrong about the use of such weapons.
It was still a violent use of a weapon. What are you talking about?

If the world is such a safe place as you seem to state, why should anyone have to give you examples? Why don’t YOU prove otherwise by taking a cross country road trip and save money by avoiding H/Motel expenses by sleeping in your vehicle at rest areas? Willing to rise to your challenge? Myself, I didn’t when I was younger and more free spirited, I packed a S&W model 629 .44 magnum with me when I traveled. I still have that gun.

Did you land on your feet when you jumped to that conclusion?
I never said the world was a safe place. The dude could carry a bat, a chain, a golf club. Why does it have to be a billy club?
I mean, i don’t even care if anybody really has a billy club. I just dont want people walking around in public with them.
