Bat One, could you knock off use of the term “hate speech”?  We have a first amendment that allows people to be as hateful as they want to be.  Leave the political correct bullshit to the morons on the left.

Hoodlumman - 07:05am on 05/08/2008

While I am in agreement w/your the bulk of your post, please don’t call it “hate speech”.

That term is quickly on the way to becoming either a code-word or a meanless label, depending on your political orientation.

There is real hate speech, and questioning McCain’s service “ain’t it!” An example of the type of speech that is actually hate speech would include the many letters threatening Ms. Malkin. Even the milder ones, which she shares, are actual hate speech.

My opinion on how McCain’s service is applicable to his Presidential run is summed up by a story from the time of the Revolutionary War:

After Col. Arnold entered into British service, as a reward for the blueprints of Fort West Point’s fortifications, he was detailed as the leader of a raiding party raiding near his home.

During the raid he happened on a grizzled old local.  Asking the local what this town would do if its famous son - B. Arnold - was caught here, he was anwered: We’d bury his left leg with full military honors, the rest we’d hang.  Arnold’s left leg was the one wounded at the Battle of Saratoga.

In other words: McCain was a War Hero.  Let us have a moment of silence for that honorable man! Then let us morn the traitor he has become.

Traitor too strong a term?  What other word fits for a man who would erase our souvernity while he lies and says he won’t?  If his intentions were honorable, he’d be honest about it.

His nick name in the ‘80s was Dishonest John.  Hs cut of the Keating 5 was $350k+, which makes Clinton’s cattle futures piker’s funds.  I think it is a descriptive nickname.

Hoodlumman,

Your point about politically correct bullshit and the First Amendment is exactly the one I was making by choosing the term “hate speech”.  Nor is the term inappropriate to the circumstances I describe.  The idea that speech could be criminalized is antithecal to the idea of personal liberty on which this country was founded.

Martin,

I am no fan of John McCain’s presidential candidacy.  But ours is a two party system, which all too often affords us the choice between the lesser of two evils.  A McCain presidency would be far less the unmitigated disaster domestically and internationally than either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama would.

Anyone too myopic to view the alternatives should not be listened to at all.

Bat One, the mere fact that under torture he revealed the names of the Green Bay offensive line makes him a collaborator!

Perhaps, you are not concerned about his setting the broken arms of his fellow detainees without a proper medical license?

This man is without shame!

Carrick - 09:05am on 05/08/2008

There have been some vile rumors circulated on the far Left that McCain was not a tortured POW hero but a collaborator instead.  These documents, and the fact that the man cannot raise his arm high enough to salute should put an end to such vicious, unfounded hate speech.

I hope the left comes out with this crap. I dare them. They will be get beaten badly in the election for it.

I agree with that statement well said. McCain would do a lot better job than the light weight Barack Obama a campaign platform built on nothing.l

It is interesting that some still cannot see the difference between hate speech and comments they don’t agree with.

I am just surprised to see that posted here.

Oh no he was a POW, whom was tourchered, thus making him way to demented for serving as the president!

Billybob - 01:05pm on 05/08/2008

“There have been some vile rumors circulated on the far Left that McCain was not a tortured POW hero but a collaborator instead.”

I think they are confusing him with John Kerry.

“Senator Kerry, I knew Benedict Arnold, and you are a Benedict Arnold”
Paraphrasing “Lloyd the Loser.”

Eneils Bailey - 08:05am on 05/10/2008

Billybob, do you really think McCain is a demented man as a result of his time as a POW?

...

I’ve said this before on SAB, and I’ll say it again, when McCain’s Vietnamese captors asked him for the names of his comrades McCain spewed the names of the GreenBay Packers offensive line!

Nice find, Bat One.

dirl126 - 08:05am on 05/10/2008

Some of the worst attacks made against John McCain have been made right here at SAB.

Hell, if the dems are smart, they will just cut and paste some of the vicious things said about McCain by contributors to this blog and save themselves a lot of ad money.

When are we going to wake up and realize that if we don’t support McCain, we get the senate’s MOST LIBERAL member, Barack Obama, as President?
